Welcome to Trezor! If you're ready to secure your digital assets with one of the most trusted hardware wallets on the market, you’re in the right place. Trezor offers you unmatched security for your cryptocurrency, while also being easy to set up and use. Follow this guide to get your Trezor device up and running with Trezor.io/start and enjoy peace of mind knowing your assets are safe.
To begin, simply go to Trezor.io/start. This is the official starting page where you’ll download Trezor Suite and start setting up your wallet. Trezor Suite is a secure software that lets you manage, send, and receive cryptocurrencies.
Trezor Suite is your central hub for interacting with your wallet. It’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux as well as a web version.
Download the Desktop Version for added security.
Install and open Trezor Suite, and you’ll be ready to connect your Trezor device!
Use the USB cable provided to connect your Trezor device to your computer. You’ll see a welcome message on Trezor Suite, with instructions for your first setup.
When you first use your Trezor device, it might require a firmware update. This is an important step to ensure that you have the latest security features.
Follow the instructions in Trezor Suite to install the latest firmware.
Confirm the installation on both your device and computer.
Once it’s installed, you may need to disconnect and reconnect your Trezor.
After the firmware is updated, you’ll be given the option to create a new wallet or recover an existing wallet.
Creating a New Wallet: If this is your first time, select this option. Trezor will generate a unique recovery seed (12, 18, or 24 words) for you. This seed is your backup – it’s the only way to recover your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.
Write Down Your Recovery Seed: Make sure to write this seed down exactly as shown and keep it in a safe place offline. This seed should never be shared online or with anyone else!
To add an extra layer of security, Trezor will prompt you to set up a PIN. Each time you use your Trezor, this PIN will protect it from unauthorized access. Choose a unique and memorable PIN.
Optional Passphrase: For even more security, you can enable a passphrase. This is like adding an extra word or phrase to your recovery seed. (Recommended for advanced users.)
Now that your wallet is ready, it’s time to add your favorite cryptocurrency accounts. Trezor supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and many more.
Go to the “Accounts” tab in Trezor Suite.
Click “Add Account” and select the cryptocurrencies you want to store.
With your accounts set up, you can now send and receive cryptocurrencies.
Sending: Enter the recipient's address, confirm the amount, and approve the transaction on your Trezor device.
Receiving: Share your wallet’s public address with the sender. You can see and verify your address on the device screen before confirming.
Your Trezor is designed to protect your assets, but there are a few simple practices to keep in mind:
Firmware Updates: Trezor Suite will notify you of any firmware updates, which include security improvements.
Back Up Your Recovery Seed: Consider making additional copies of your seed and storing them in secure locations.
Avoid Phishing: Only download Trezor Suite from Trezor.io and never share your PIN or recovery seed online.
With your Trezor device all set up, you’re ready to enjoy secure and private management of your digital assets. Trezor is built to offer peace of mind by keeping your cryptocurrency safe from online threats. By following these steps, you’ve taken the important first steps to secure your assets – welcome to the Trezor community!
